Petronas Global R&D Centre

The winning design in an international design competition for Petronas Global R&D Centre in Turin, led by David and his team at their former practice BM.

The new R&D headquarters spans a multi-purpose research facility that will function as the European base for teams of scientists, researchers, and product developers.

The building is arranged in a contemporary, linear form, accommodating a range of functions including labs, workshops, engine test cells, conferencing, offices, staff restaurant and welfare facilities. The design of the fifth elevation and dramatic saw-tooth roof profile was inspired by the surrounding field-patterns and jagged profile of the Alpine peaks.
